About NineLingo
Nine languages, written for Indonesian speakers.
NineLingo teaches nine languages to Indonesian speakers, starting from the mistakes Indonesians actually make.
Most language apps are written for English speakers and then have their interface translated. The material stays the same, even though the difficulties Indonesians face are very specific. NineLingo is written for Indonesians. It includes 832 notes on pitfalls caused by our own native language, such as vowel length in Japanese, aspirated consonants in Korean and Mandarin, and throat sounds in Arabic.
- 9languages in one app
- 5,400+words, each with an example sentence
- 832Indonesian-specific pitfall notes
- 36exam simulation packs, plus IELTS, TOEFL and TOEIC
English, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Arabic, Russian, German, French, Spanish.
What's inside
- A structured curriculum for every language, with a placement test so learners know where to start. English runs A1–C2 with 326 lessons.
- Grammar explained concept-first, in Indonesian, before any tables or rules.
- Animated stroke order for six scripts: Hangul, Hiragana, Katakana, Hanzi, Arabic and Cyrillic.
- Spaced-repetition flashcards.
- Exam simulations that follow official section order, timing and scoring: JLPT, TOPIK, HSK, Goethe, DELF/DALF, DELE, TORFL and Arabic (CEFR-aligned), plus IELTS, TOEFL and TOEIC. The IELTS and TOEFL simulations have full-length Listening and Reading sections; the TOEIC bank is still smaller.
- Works offline as an installable web app. Sold as a one-time purchase, with no subscription and no ads.
Who builds it
NineLingo is run by Kikas, a solo founder in Indonesia who also runs a ready-to-eat food brand.
Built and extended with Claude. NineLingo started from a licensed learning-app engine, which provided the app shell, the core English course and base material for the other eight languages. Everything that turned it into NineLingo was done by one person working with Claude and Claude Code: the rebrand, a backend for sign-in, access codes and progress sync, placement tests for eight languages, new C1–C2 material for Russian, French and Spanish, full-length IELTS and TOEFL listening and reading banks, and a content audit of all nine languages that produced the honest per-language numbers on our homepage.
What's next
- AI speaking and writing feedback. Today, speaking practice is self-assessed with a rubric.
- An AI tutor that explains a learner's specific mistakes in Indonesian.
- AI agents that keep support and access activation fast for every learner.
What we don't claim
The exam questions are not official exam questions; only the format follows the official rules. NineLingo is not a guarantee of passing any exam. The eight languages other than English are about a third as deep as English, and the homepage lists the exact numbers for each.
